If you store your boat in the water at least part of the year, it is wise to keep the hull free of marine growth with at least one or more coats of quality antifouling paint To keep your vessel performing at its peak, and reducing the cost of fuel. This preventative maintenance task should be at the top of your list. A clean hull is safe, fast and efficient—while a fouled bottom will reduce your boat's speed, performance and cause you to spend more on fuel over the season.

All bottom-painting options include a very "light" sanding of boat bottoms (Enough for the paint to adhere.), scraping of barnacles from the running gear and boat storage until the work is complete. Prepping of excessively fouled bottoms and running gear or sanding of anti-fouling paint that is flaked, pitted. After we get rid of all the flaking paint we go to work. We use high grade anti-fouling paint, and give your hull two to three coats.

What does having CT Yacht Services bottom paint my boat for the first time consist of?
We are mobile so whether your boat is in the driveway on a trailer or on jack stands at a Marina we can handle it!
#1 Call one of our specialists. We can advise you on what type of bottom paint is suitable for your boat whether Anti-fouling, hard paint, and which color.
#2 Being the fact that the vessel has never been bottom painted means, that we have to mark the water line (Where the boat Sits in the water)
# 3 Boats that have never been bottom painted before require us to prep and scuff the bottom before applying Barrier Paint.
# 4 What is Barrier Paint ? Before bottom painting a boat you must apply barrier paint. Barrier paint is a two step epoxy paint that hardens into a protective shell over your fiberglass preventing water absorption, and blistering of the fiberglass. This process requires 24 hour cure time before we can apply the bottom paint.

#5 How long does the full process take? Generally a boat that has never been bottom painted takes a total of 3 days until our work is finished.

#6 How long after bottom painting the boat until I can launch the boat? It depends on the type of bottom pant we painted the boat with but many suggest that you launch the boat within 72 hrs
